Founded on expertise, technology, and passion
A brief history:
- Founded in 1983 by John H Brauteseth, Brauteseth Blasting began as a civil blasting company servicing the construction industry around South Africa.
- Brauteseth Blasting soon after began branching out into the commercial quarry market.
- Clive Brauteseth continued the company's strong legacy, taking it over in 1989.
- Clive and his team expanded into the commercial quarry market in the early 2000s, getting contracts with NPC and Idwala.
- Being awarded Tendele Colliery's rock-on-ground (ROG) contract was a great accomplishment for Brauteseth Blasting in 2009. Leading to the company's large-scale mining operations.
- Since then, the company has established an impression across Southern Africa. The main areas include KwaZulu Natal, Eastern and Northern Cape, and Limpopo. With a newer focus on expansion into south and central Africa.
Brauteseth Blasting stays at the forefront of expansion in the mining, drilling, quarrying, and blasting industries by investing in skilled, experienced people and exceptional equipment.
We're currently contracted to over:
- 20 Commercial quarries
- Five large-scale mining operations
- Various construction sites
We've had contracts at:
- NPC and Idwala for over 20 years, where we provide ROG services.
- Tendele Colliery for 13 years
- And have long-term contracts with Foskor and AfriSam KZN.
Stand-out achievements:
- We‘ve secured drilling and blasting contracts with various commercial quarries between East London and Salt Rock in KZN.
- For the past 21 years, we've been drilling and blasting at the open cast mine of Natal Portland Cement (NPC) outside Port Shepstone.
- Additionally, we were awarded the contract for drilling and blasting for Idwala Carbonate in the same mine in 2011.

- Drilling and blasting for small construction projects. Including small pipelines and proximity blasting in built-up areas.
- Rock-on-ground services to construction companies for road stone quarries and borrows pits for road construction and road rehabilitation.
